Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos, guilty of fraud on 4 accounts - 3 counts of wire fraud and 1 count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
If you don’t know the story of Theranos, it’s a movie worthy story. In fact there was a documentary made by HBO which I highly recommend. "The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley"
But basically Elizabeth Holmes was supposed to be the second coming of Steve Jobs. She dropped out of Stanford at 19 to launch a company that would offer the most elaborate blood tests, while also being the cheapest and easiest.
At its peak, Theranos was valued almost $10 Billion, and Holmes was one of the youngest and richest female billionaires ever.
However it turned out to be a classic, fake it until you make it case. Which she unfortunately never got to the "make it" part.
After whistleblowing started to arise in 2015, it’s now clear there was countless defrauding and false reporting top to bottom at Theranos. Now it looks like Holmes will be serving some serious jail time...
